Air bubbles trapped frozen Loch vale

Air bubbles trapped frozen Loch vale

Air bubbles trapped in the ice of Loch Vale Lake. The snow was blown off the frozen lake, reavealing a surrealistic landscape at our feet. January 24, 2004.

Unbelievable

When I saw thumbnail thought what the hell is this, maybe flash shot in blizzard. Who would have guessed it is something amazing as this! Question immediately imposes how were they created? Maybe trapped in snow which later turned into ice. Never mind, no explanation is needed to conclude this is great shot :-)

Re: Unbelievable

Thanks, aleksandar. There are couple of us who want to back there and spend hours photographing this. It was amazing.

They were formed as the lake was freezing because someone was trapped underneath yelling "Help!" :-)

Interesting!

Always been a fan of abstract photos. Nice shot!

Re: Interesting!

Thanks! I just rescanned the slide and uploaded an improved version. I think I'll head up there again this year and look for the same effect. It's amazing to see. Happy Holidays.
