Looking down on the East Face...

Looking down on the East Face from the summit. The lower snowfield was at a manageable repose angle. However, the upper one was a little steeper. It was possibly the first place I had to enact a self-arrest procedure after slipping near its top. I caught myself after only about 20 feet but it freaked me out for the rest of the day--especially on the steep traverse on the same snowslope to the notch for the return route. The Copper Creek Trail descends on the other side of the valley. July 11, 1998.
