The Notch in Audubon's South...
The Notch in Audubon's South East Ridge is what makes the route hard (class 3 without snow), and interesting. This shot, from the bottom of the notch looking back at the downclimb, shows a lot of the key features. The route description sends you down off the pinnacle to the small ledge on the left in the photo (north). From there, we slithered down a small dihedral, traversed south under a very large block shaped like a ship's prow (sunlit in this photo) and down a series of small steps. Snow renders the route much more difficult. October 10, 2004.
