Pequeno Alpamayo with the normal route via the crest seen from the fore-summit Punta Tarijo (June 1998). This 1998 season was a strange one. It was the year of "El Nino". Because of this climate phenomen in some areas there were big rainfalls and floods, but in Bolivia there was almost none rain or snow in the "rain season". So although we were there early in the climbing season, there was only very hard snow or even ice. You can compare it well with this picture.
