Ha ha, yeah I was in frigid Chicago in single digit temps for Christmas. Got back 2 days ago. Got some good stuff though, new shell pants, an ice screw, couple of new Yates pickets, two guide books for Washington climbs and the new Julbo glacier glasses that look like sunglasses. Also picked up a new GoLite backpack on my own at half price. I did pretty well. How about you? Or was your Xmas gift a few summits in Utah? :- )

Where did you find that 1/2 price backpack - around here or back in Chicago?

Utah thing was our gift (for me, the 3 bolts on the Kor-Ingalls OW pitch WERE the best gifts!!).

I got one called something like "Climbing Washington's Highest Mountains", it focuses on the top 100 and their normal routes. The other was the Volume 2 of the Cascade Climbs series.



The backpack was a find in Galyan's in central IL (but they are found in about 6 or 7 Midwest states). Dick's Sporting Goods bought them out and is replacing their gear with cheaper stuff so they are having a free-for-all on their higher end stuff. I got a great dayhike/summit backpack that weights about 1.5 pounds but has nice things like pockets for pickets and a daisy chain and gear slings for alpine climbs.



Great climbs you had in Utah. I remember that area well as I have backpacked there a couple times. Moab is a great little town.
