Looking up the Allen Gill from the Grains Gill

The Allen Gill, on the left in this photo, looks easy to follow, but that's not what I came for. I want to follow the Grains Gill up to Allen Crag. The route is mostly hiking through the river bed, with the occasional grade I/II scramble on some steeper sections in the canyons along the way. Up to this point I had avoided one tricky section by getting out of the canyon and following the banks for a few minutes. I was optimistic that if I would find more problems, I would find solutions as well. 24 May 2012.
