Wet Cliff on Grinnell Point

Wet Cliff on Grinnell Point

This wet cliff is a very important landmark for accessing the South Ramp Route for Grinnell Point. As the photo shows, steep cliffs abound in every direction. However, by aiming to the right (north) of the wet cliff, it is possible to find safely climbable breaks which provide the only Class III access to the grassy ramp. This couloir is steep and loose, but it should be obvious that it is the only plausible way up this side of the mountain. A small strip of grass is visible in the right center of the photo (not to be confused with the grassy ramp). This is the general area where the climbing is safest, and above the first cliff bands is the steep couloir that leads to the grassy ramp. June 27, 2013 A special note: In July of 2013, an employee of Many Glacier Hotel fell to his death while attempting to access the South Ramp Route. Please exercise extreme caution while route finding in this area.
