I took this telephoto shot of a grizzly in Alaska in 1980 (helps explain the graininess). I saw no need to get close enough to take a photo without telephoto lens!

First Impression

When I first saw the photo (without the caption) I thought "I hope he had a telephoto lens for that shot".

Interesting note about this area...

I saw another grizzly (or maybe the same one?) in this area not long after this. But that time the bear was by the road heading toward a hiker. The hiker was very glad for the timeliness of a ride out of there! I have to wonder about my own sanity for ever hiking in grizzly country when I was young and foolish! (Now I am just old and foolish!) Thanks for your comment!
