Pyramid Peak?This mountain, I believe is point 1401 (4596ft, 1401m)
It has no official name on topozoe maps. Looks really cool though.
Have you considered putting up a page on Pyramid Peak?

Re: Pyramid Peak?This was a great peak to climb. It has many different views to get pictures. I never thought about creating a web page for this peak. If I have some extra time I will attempt it but if I would have to stay out of the mountains. Thanks for the compliment.

Re: Pyramid Peak?Pyramid Peak is not an official High Peak because it does not meet all of the standards of the High Peaks. when the Marshall Brothers and their guide Herd Clark were looking at their maps they decided that a "High Peak" Must have three things:
1) It must be above 4,000 ft.
2) It must rise more than 300 vertical ft from the nearset High Peak(at least I think it is 300 ft)
3) and it has to be ( I think) 3/4 miles from the nearest High Peak
I am not sure about the 300vft or the 3/4 miles. I can not find the book that has all that information in it. those numbers is what I remember.

Re: Pyramid Peak?Those are the criteria that Mohamed Ellozy lists on his excellent summary here.
The Adirondack 46er club website is less informative, but you could contact them and double-check.
Interestingly, the Marshalls and Clark used a map that later proved inaccurate. Unlike the AMC's White Mountain list, the 46er club decided to keep the list unchanged. You'll notice that the last 4 of the 46 are actually under 4000' and that McNaughton (4000') is missing.
Oh, and only Adirondack peaks are included. There are two 4000ers in the Catskills too.
But this one fails both prominence and separation criteria on my map.

High Peak or not....Still worthy of a page, right? There's a few up there in the ADK's that I plan on making pages for, but they're not high peaks. Have fun with it and inform others, that's what it's about.
