Vintage panorama of Retezat

Drawn by Tivadar Dörre based on the photography taken by the famous alpinist and geographer, Mór Déchy (important researcher of the Caucasus and the first Hungarian to climb Elbrus). The image shows the mountain range from the tower of the Kendeffy-castle at Sântamaria-Orlea (Őraljaboldogfalva in Hungarian). Published in Vasárnapi Ujság, 1882, on the occasion of the hunt by crown prince Rudolph Habsburg, which took place in Retezat, around Zănoaga Lake.
