Day 1 of the Sierra High Route from Tuolumne to Mammoth. After setting up camp we killed some time then headed directly up Vogelsang. We opted for class 3 climbing wherever we could and Dave/Mike actually found some 5th class that turned them around. When we summited the clouds closed in all around us but not quite on us. We stayed dry while enjoying incredible views before descending during sunset. A great first night and peak for the trip.

Dayhike from Tuolumne Meadows, up the East Face of Vogelsang which was a fun class 2/easy class 3, found the summit register on top, went down the easy class 2 left side gully to the Pass, then went up the ridge northeast and traversed sustained class 2 talus all the way to Parsons. Couldn't find register at the COHP but did find one on top of Parsons. Returning via Ireland Lake and the Lyell Canyon. Long day - Nearly 25 miles in about 11.5 hours. Trip report is HERE

East face from Tioga Road
Central face up, left side gully down. I liked the former better. Day hike from Tuolumne Meadows, 9.5 hours round trip with plenty of rest. No register (or I didn't find it). I also didn't know which of the summit rocks is highest, so I tagged them all.
My first major peak ever. Fabulous day and incredible views from the top.

East Face
Vogelsang - Parsons dayhike out of Tuolumne Meadows. Climbed a steep class 3 route on the East Face. Looks like a rodent (marmot?) destroyed the contents of the summit register. Traversed over to Parsons and returned via Ireland Lake and Lyell Canyon in rain and thunderstorms.
