Was definitely in a peak bagging mood today. Started at Beverly TH. Hiked to Fourth Creek Pass. Left trail to follow ridge straight to Mary's Peak. Then followed ridge to Judy's Peak. Dropped into valley and went straight for Bean Peak. Followed ridge down to Volcanic Neck. And finished up at Devil's Head. Then looped back using standard trail. Views were incredible, trail was silent (and it was a holiday weekend) and really cool rocks which was an unexpected plus. Very dry up here so bring extra water because there isn't much to filter beyond Beverly Creek.

7 Peak Day
Traversed Earl, Bean, Volcanic Neck, Devils Head, Bean, Judis, Marys, and Bill with Heather Anderson. 13 hours and 40 minutes round-trip.
Volcanic Neck was the most interesting peak we did. The initial gully was filled with snow and the upper ledges had patches of snow and ice.

Pretty exposed
But a fun trip anyway. Went over Bean Peak to climb it.

Loose and exposed
With Flanders after doing Bean Peak. Followed goat tracks around the right (east) side and back up to the ridge where I found the obvious gully. Found this to be pretty loose and exposed in spots. A fall off to the sides would have been deadly. Not for the faint of heart. Was happy to get back to the ridge. After doing Devils Head we descended scree from the ridge below the west side of Volcanic Neck and went low in the rockfields to traverse back to the trail west.

north side gully
did this combined with Bill's Peak and Bean Peak. pretty fun day, great weather.
Took the gully up the north end to its top then did a rising traverse to the summit. Lots of loose rock but plenty of obviously sound rock as well. Too many flying ants on the summit to stick around.
