I was never so surprised to fall so instantly for a National Park as I did for Joshua Tree. Within minutes after arriving at the Park I was floored by the place. Our only disappointment was that we only had a full day there. Looking forward to the day when we can return. Until then, your posts will have to do.
Thank you very much, Bob. I'm glad you're enjoying my pages. JTNP has been a special place for my family as well. Unfortunately, during the past ten years it has become more and more crowded and noisy. We try to go there during the non-holiday, or cold weather months.
That's when we were there. February of last year. The little lake there was full, which the rangers told us was rare. We didn't encounter any crowds at all. In fact, the last hike I took I was completely alone on the trail. Down in a washed out canyon in late afternoon, it was all very quiet and very strange.
