Overland from North Walton
We drove up to North Walton and then trekked overland to Walton. A lot of fallen timber and big soft snowdrifts, but it was nicer and shadier than 4 miles of gates road to Walton. Lunch and a nap at the overlook.

Winter
From the snowshoe trailhead, followed the winter route around North Walton to the saddle, then bushwhacked/broke trail up the north ridge to the summit. Some nice views to the NE through SE from just below the summit structures. Climbed with Rachael.

Walton

Kim needed a break from the kids (and me), so Kessler, Shaylee and I decided to climb Walton Peak. The kids said they wanted to try something hard, but we didn't know if we could make it or not since in winter it's a 12 mile round trip on snowshoes.
We got a late start, but the kids persevered to the summit. The weather started out clear, but it was windy so in open areas there was a ground blizzard. The kids still had a great time though by the end Shaylee was tired. 12 miles on snowshoes is pretty good for a seven year old girl, even if she is tough. We got some good sliding in on the way down.
After climbing the peak we stopped at Wendy's in Steamboat and then headed home to Kimberly's open arms. It was a great day!

I climbed the peak on a rather gloomy winter day.

Road ....
No benchmark to be found. Nice fields of flowers and cool rocks, though. Some highly polished glaciated large rocks are exposed.
