Thanks Sean! I appreciate your nice comment about my page. A lot of Utah SPers are good photographers so I try to add new photos every once in while. I think we can all agree that this is a great place to live if you love the outdoors. I know people that have lived here their whole life and have never climbed a mountain. This page may attract more people but overall it won’t be a large number.
Thanks Dan! I haven’t learned how to make those fancy charts and lists that I’ve seen on other pages. I usually just end up writing a lot of info instead. It also helps to have several Utah SPers that are great photographers. Their photos make the page look much nicer. You’ve posted some good photos and pages but there’s nothing wrong with being a poser sometimes ;-)
This has to be one of the most involved, fact-filled, easy to read, logical, and all-encompassing pages on sp. There is just much out therer and you cover it all and then some. Thanks for being so dilligent so that others may learn!
Thanks Brad! I’m glad that you like the page and that it was easy to understand and helpful. I’ve been adding information when I have time. I wanted to give a good representation of the Wasatch Range for people who are interested in climbing here.
This is the most awesome page I have seen on SP. You definitely have a way with creating these pages. I often times fly into SLC and look out and only wonder about those mountains I see. This would be one terrific read as I sit in that seat and ponder.. my mind racing about mountain goats and pumas and moose. The winter camping and alpine skiing. These mountains have it all and close to SLC too.
Wow, thanks for the nice comment, Steve! It has been fun making this page. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that the Wasatch Mountains are so close to a major city. I feel lucky to be able to live near them and climb on the weekend. There is plenty to do here in every season. So next time you are in SLC you’ll know a little more about these mountains.
This page just gets better and better. Great work.
In addition to the info you have about Alta's proposed Flagstaff lift, you might want to add some info about Solitude's proposed lift in Silver Fork. Here's an SL Trib article: http://www.sltrib.com/business/ci_13860390.
If they are allowed to build this lift, it will kill several long-standing touring areas including the Meadow Chutes, and the North and West bowls in upper Silver Fork.
Thanks sisyphus. I appreciate your input and from other skiers too. I added some info about Solitude and Silver Fork and included the article you mentioned.
I have to agree with Wasatchvoyage, this is hand's down the best page on summitpost. I thought some of your other pages were at the top but this one sets the bar so high that a person would need an extension ladder to put up a page with equal quality. It might seem strange but I am now just getting into the central Wasatch and learning to appreciate the area after having the first couple years here loving the western desert as well as southern Utah. Your page is an invaluable resource. Many many thanks for your effort.
Thanks Dean! That means a lot coming from you. It’s great that you are getting out more into the Central Wasatch Mountains. This is the most popular area of the Wasatch and you can probably understand why. I just learned how to make html tables and will probably add one to this page and to some of my other pages later.
Thanks gimpilator! I wanted to make a nice overview for the Wasatch Mountains. There are guidebooks available but none of them describe the entire range. These mountains are not far from Salt Lake City so check them out if you are ever in the area.
Thanks for the nice comment, CheesySciFi! This is the most popular area of the Wasatch Range so that's why it is such a big page. I had a lot of help from SPers who submitted awesome photos for these mountains.
I'm not new to hiking in the Central Wasatch Mountains though I haven't hiked a serious peak in several years, but I am new to SP. I have found your work is legion and you are a legend. Thank you for all your incredible contributions for I have found them very informative and inspiring.
