SE Slopes
Started from an overgrown 4WD road above Scott Lake since it looked like this would be the shortest route to the summit. Wouldn't recommend, the manzanita was cumbersome. At least it's short. Continued to Pt 9380, and then bushwhack again back to the car.

Dayhike
Hiked this one before work early on a monday morning. There were other cars parked at Luther Pass, but I saw no one during the hike. Straightforward off-trail climb, it's steep but it is short. Great views into Hope Valley from the top.

Went with a Meetup group
The views were great from the top, but getting up and down the mountain was kind of a nasty endeavor. There really was no trail to speak of. Basically the only strategy to climbing it is to just keep going up.

SE Ridge (slog/bushwhack)
Nice views to the south from The Summit. Summit register dates back to 1985, back when people had good handwriting, LOL. You might be wondering why it took the SE Ridge... that wasn't my plan; I was expecting to stumble on a use trail, described as class 1 terrain on the mountain page, but could only find the undocumented but marked trail that brought me to the south side. If you want to climb Waterhouse from Luther Pass leave the trail after the meadow and hike straight towards the summit through any overbrush; the route will eventually open up and give you whatever class 2 line you want.

Solitude in Spring Snow
Parked on Hwy 89 and started hiking up the trail around 10. Quickly got into patches of snow and just aimed for the path of least resistance. Steep slopes and elevation had us sucking air. Got up to the snow-free summit area a bit after 12. Took pictures and ate lunch a little below the summit out of the wind. Gorgeous sunshine and warm temps the whole day. Snow was just melted enough to make it easy going on the way down, not so soft that we were postholing thankfully. Didn't need snowshoes. I used micro spikes and poles with snow baskets. Helped a lot with my speed up the mountain. Got a little off our path when we hit a clear road and took it the wrong way. We were able to hit 89 and walk parallel back to our parking spot. Just under 4 miles. Didn't see any other hikers or cars in the area. Nice and short day hike!

4th option on the day
Could not access Tallac, so went to Phipps. Got mixed up on the cross country vs trail route and realized didn't have enough time, so went to Rubicon. Streets at top of Rubicon subdivision were iced over and my car started skidding so gave up on that and went to Waterhouse. Waterhouse saved the day - got an OGUL summit, went up from Luther Pass, well marked trail up to the top, nice views. Trip report is HERE.
