Route: Fire Road Date Climbed: 03/04/07  Sucess!

Hiked this with my 5 month old Husky/Shepherd pup Kodi, and his 2.5 month old friend Akita/Shepherd pup Shasta. All did a great job and had a fun time with the little snow on top. No peak register to be found.

From Buckhorn  Sucess!

One of the more recent times I was up there. This is my favorite short trail. If you want a quick getaway and have less than 3 hours of time, this is it!
Go up sometime in winter and wait till the sunset; you get the most amazing alpine glow on Baldy!

From Buckhorn on the Way to Twin Peaks  Sucess!

Stopped up at the top on my way back to Twin Peaks. It was a gorgeous day without another soul in sight on the way up or at the top.

Did Waterman on the return from climbing Twin Peaks. My first time for either mountain. Nicely maintained trail all the way. Even though there was the typical Southern California haze in the direction of the L.A. Basin, you could still make out Catalina Island from Waterman's summit.

A favorite  Sucess!

Hiked to the summit many times. Not the greatest view from the summit, but the rocks to the south and below provide an excellent vantage point. Nice views and a great area.

From Buckhorn  Sucess!

This was my first trip up Waterman. A very nice day with perfect weather. Patches of snow remain on the trail, but are only a few inches deep, and easily crossed in the footsteps of others who came before.

Route Climbed: Bighorn Trail  Sucess!

Slightly overcast day with light snowfall the prior night at the higher elevations on top of an exisitng base of one foot or less. Took the Buckhorn Trail up to the Twin Peaks junction and then on up to the summit. At the saddle the wind picked up slightly and the new snow and ice began to fall from the trees. Had the sound of falling ice the entire last hour until the summit. Very eerie! Hiked over to the rocks at the summit and found the survey mark. Got a bit off trail on the descent following the wrong tracks. Followed an Easterly ridgeline and then eventually crossed over into the trailhead canyon. Only one on the mountain for the day

Route Climbed: 3 Pts. and Buckhorn

This is a beautiful hike from any trailhead. Lots of big trees and
and some good boulders on the summit. Early summer has great wildflowers.

Route Climbed: From 3 Points or Buckhorn Date Climbed: Many times  Sucess!

Done this several times as part of a run from 3 Points or even on skis from Buckhorn. Keep an eye open for bighorn sheep south of the summit.

Route Climbed: Many Date Climbed: Often  Sucess!

Been to the summit perhaps 30 or 40 times in the past 20 years. Favorite route is the northwest ridge, starting at Cloudburst Summit. The Waterman Mountain Trail, starting across the highway from Buckhorn Picnic Area, is an excellent bike ride. Have done ski descents down various ridges and slopes. Spent many nights on the summit, where camping is excellent! There are some nice granite outcrops on the southeast side, with good bouldering and 40' to 60' top-rope climbs.

Route Climbed: Ski slopes Date Climbed: May 21, 2005  Sucess!

Who would believe there would be snow blanketing Mt. Waterman in late May? And yet there was. A clear sky, still air, and temperatures in the 60s made for perhaps the best day of skiing I've ever had in southern California. Skinned up the lower ski slopes, walked along the bare summit ridge for a quarter mile, and then skinned the rest of the way to the summit. Glorious sun and near-perfect snow on the way down. I drew a few stares sitting by the road with my skis afterward, but those folks don't know what they're missing!
