Last chance
A few days before the end of August our government announced that all borders of Hungary would be closed due to the pandemic situation, in effect from the 1st September. There was a weekend yet between the announcement and the closure. Since there are no real mountains in Hungary, I had to take this last opportunity to "jump over" to Austria, to the nearest part of the Alps. For a 1 day trip there are not too many options. I decided to go to the Niederwechsel. Anyway it was my second hiking there. But I liked already the first one. This one was very good, too

Cold!
Ridge route from Monichkirchen. Pretty foggy, but went above the clouds while approaching the summit.
Cold and windy, but nice.

Schöberlriegel and Rabenkropf
Route: Feistritzsattel - Schöberlriegel (1704 m) - Kranichberger Schwaig - Rabenkropf - Feistritzsattel. It was a 11 km long walk in wet snow - that was 30 cm deep near the summit. It was 3 Celsius degree and it was foggy and drizzling.

Niederwechsel
From Alte Glashütte (near Traenktörl) to Vorauer Schweig and from there to Niederwechsel summit.
I didn't plan this tour in advance. I was in Vienna and it was just raining there. But looking to southern direction I saw that there must be sunshine at Wechsel mountain. By a quick decision I drove my car there and I had a good walk up to Niederwechsel. I didn't have any map with me. But as more-or-less I remembered the map by heart, I could walk up from Alte Glashütte to Vorauer Schweig just across the forest always in northwest direction. On my return I followed the marked routes.
