Shane, Bev and I ski ascended this and Mount Weird (almost on the way) this morning. We had the parking lot almost to ourselves as well as the mountain. If you arrive early (9-10), the snow is still firm making for a speedy ascent. Because the route is mostly north aspect, it didn’t get nearly as soft as the West and South facing aspects, which were best avoided by mid-day. Traffic back on 2 took an extra hour to make it last Sultan.

Welldiggers and Weird
Due to poor avalanche conditions this weekend, ended up doing something mild to at least get out. No blue sky but at least it was a clear day with some views of the nearby peaks. These two are very fast to do. Took me about an hour to reach Welldiggers, then crossed over to Weird, then back. Saw some skiers on the way down. HUGE line of people waiting to take the bus to Steven's Pass. I almost couldn't drive myself out because the line was so big.

Deep Powder
We all fell in some deep tree wells. It was hard to climb out.

My second snowshoe of the season
EK pick this winner of a mountain for us! It was great for me. The views were good as well.

Almost Too Easy
Short, simple, and almost ridiculously easy. This would be a good first-time snowshoe hike for a person. In fact, this is very near to where I snowshoed for the first time, many years ago.

Welldiggers Ass
We wanted something short and easy and this fit the bill. Even easier than suspected. Thankfully the precip was more rain than snow. I'm rather curious about the origin of the name.
