West End of Targhee From Trail

This view from the Trail 27 shows the west end of Targhee Peak just south of Targhee Pass. It also shows the best route to the summit. Fromt he pass go straight up the rounded ridgeline to the rock outcrop just above the small uppermost patch of snow. Then cut around the rocks to the right and turn back up to the ridgeline. From there just go along the long ridgeline (not visible) to the summit. One can also pick their way straight through the outcrop or go around to the left, but there is more exposure on breakaway rocks to deal with. June 2009
