West
We drove up with no problem and did not think the switchbacks were particularly tight, but we have a small car. Then we did a tough bushwhack to points 7250 and 7225.

West Mt Peak
I parked at Hell Hole Pass, and walked the road from there. Great views from the summit, despite all the clutter on top.

Nearly from the Highway
I drove about .3-.4 miles in from the highway until I found a decent place to park. I wanted a bit more workout than the hike up from the pass would provide, so I decided to walk pretty much the entire road, with some jogging mixed in. It gets a little discouraging when you lose tons of the elevation you worked to gain, but it was a great workout, with hardly anyone sharing the road with me on a busy President's Day weekend!

Worth the hike
This was my first solo hike, first solo summit, and highest summit reached under my own power -- a great trip!
Despite being a road hike, and despite the summit being mobbed with TV towers, the views from the road and especially from the summit were gorgeous. Very much a peak worth climbing. The road is more pothole and hump than road in places, and steep. It ascends and descends en route, so both directions are a good workout.
Up top, I could see for miles in every direction. The scenery included sheer cliffs, canyons, far-off mountains, wide stretches of desert, and the city of Santa Clara in the distance. The loudest sound was the crunch of snow under my shoes, and I never saw anything bigger than a bird.
Hell Hole Pass. Very beautiful, sunny, and windy day. This was a gorgeous spring hike. Would recommend during spring or fall. I'd imagine this would not be too pleasant during August. Road up from the pass looks pretty scary, I wouldn't do it...maybe with an ATV.

One of three "drive-bys" I did that day
I was traveling solo to SLC in my Jeep and decided to bag this one and two 300+ ft. prom. peaks on my way north. The views were great. The drive was fun.

Passenger Peril
It was a daring life threatening ascent buckled in next to Dean as he drove the steep road to the summit. I was sweating real good when he finally parked. Then I had to buckle in and ride down without screaming...

Hot hike
Started too late in day. Hike short, steep, no shade. Temps in the 90s, pushing 100. Yuck. Just grunted it out, then scurried back to hotel room to cool off and relax.

Two visits
2008: Walked up using the service road. Was rained on and hit the summit in fog so probably not a bad day to do it since it can get pretty hot in this area.
2011: April 30th, drove to the top, testing my driving and braking skills with Dennis Poulin. We had a beautiful day and had just done a six mile hike to get nearby Scrub BM peak.

From First TowerI drove to the first tower and parked there. Quarter mile walk to the summit. There were four workers at the top.
