West Northgate Peak-- East Face

The lower of the two gully/ledge/slab systems here is the one I followed to the summit area. It is steeper than it looks, and in places snow or wet rock forced me into areas that were pretty exposed, but the technical difficulties never exceeded Class 3 verging on Class 4 here and there. I'd say at least half of the route was just Class 2, but there was enough harder terrain to safely say that this route is not a hike. Zion National Park, UT-- April 2009
