Tough slog!
Once you get started up the mountain, this route is usually steep, often very steep, and in places dangerously steep. I have also climbed the Butte as a dayhike via Lemoigne Canyon. Though much longer, the latter is definitely safer and IMHO easier. For me, the time from start to finish was about the same for both routes!

2nd Ascent
First time was from Towne Pass over Towne Benchmark a little over two years ago. This time from the mine at the end of the road. Three Tacomas made the drive up the 4x4 road and parked below the mine adit. About seven miles. Very windy day.
