Lithospermum ruderale literally means trash-heap stone-seed in Latin, but this yellow-flowered cousin of forget-me-nots it is definitely not a trash plant in the Wasatch. It is not common here at all.
Gromwell is one of the earlist wildflowers to bloom in the foothills (photographed here at the base of Storm Mountain on 4/28/08), and it continues to bloom at higher elevations well into early summer.
