Great Snow Conditions
Although the snowfield isn't so vast, the conditions were wonderful corn. The narrow chute is certainly narrow now - barely 3' wide near the top. Pretty easy scramble to summit and terrific view of Thousand Island Lake and beyond. A good dayhike!

Banner
Beautiful climb of Banner from Ediza. Great conditions made for an awesome day.
up Banner from the saddle. Had hoped to follow with the North Face of Ritter, but there was too much snow up high on the upper chute/ramp. So we descended from the saddle and climbed the SE glacier direct instead. Long but very enjoyable day.

Awesome snow in the couloir.
Great snow conditions in the couloir on both the way up and (surprisingly) in the afternoon on the way down. Amazing views of Yosemite, Mono Lake, White Mtn and beyond from the summit! A little disappointing to see all the horse excrement along the trail in such pristine setting, however.
Wanted to do Ritter also, but time and fear of running into 4th/5th class chutes on the north face did not permit an ascent. We'll be back with some rope for Ritter's NF.

Solo Climb
Did a solo ascent. Left Ediza lake around 7am and started the slow tedious ascent of the talus slopes. I didn't like the look of the runneled coulour so found a traverse on the south side of the "Glacier" that headed up the side of Ritter to the saddle. Traversed the saddle and headed up to reach the summit around noon. On the way down ran into "John from Lafayette" and "Frank from England" who just finished climbing the coulour.
