Great Day Hike
The worst part of the whole climb is the road getting in. I had 2 car sick passengers. The up and down is a bit challenging, but all in all there were smiles all around

Clear skies and a little wind, made for a nice day. The sierra Nevada looked pretty awesome from the summit. Started at 8:28 a.m. Bacroft trail head to the top and back in a little under 5 & 1/2 hours. Ran for about 4 of the 14 miles.

South Face route
With plenty of snow and a strong, never ending wind we made it up to the top of this giant.
What a surreal landscape! The views on Sierra Nevada & the desert are fantastic.
We loved it.

A recent snow storm let this peak live up to its monicker. The downside was that the jeep road accumulated snow drifts so a lot of cross country snow slogging.

slog
Long slog! Camped at Grandview. White Mountain itself was cooler than I expected - lots of interesting rock colors versus a pile of rubble. Hike felt long and my friend nearly threw up at the top. I felt great but was beat down by the length of the hike. we had also gotten a late start due to a flat tire on the dirt road.

First 14er
My nephew and I drove a 91 honda civic up the road. Dragged myself up the final switchbacks. Got back to the car in the most incredible sunset. On the drive back, almost hit several owls (I think) on the road. Surreal day.

Via 4x4 Road/Barcroft Gate
Car to car, 7 hours 15 min. Ran into a herd (~30) of Big Horn Sheep. Glad it was overcast and cool/chilly/cold. Would be heinous if it were hot/sunny up there. Exposed the whole way with no water anywhere. The road up to the Barcroft gate was not as bad as described by some. Low clearance vehicles would not have any issues, but you wouldn't want to drive very fast. If you're impatient, then the road might give you problems

3 highest in California in a week
Took a trip down to California again this year to do Shasta, then White Mountain, and then Whitney. Was over 100 degrees and wore flip flops to the top (not the best idea).

White Mountain Peak
We climbed White Mountain the day after Mount Langley so that I could hike another 14'er. It's supposedly the easiest 14'er and I found it to be so. The trail begins at around 12,000 feet and it is not the most scenic on the route up, but the views at the top are amazing. On one side, you can see the Sierras and on the other side, see the Nevada mountain range. We were able to run down on the way back since it was a pretty straightforward trail. Round trip time was 5.5 hours.
This was to be a warm up for three other peaks in the Inyo Range. I got started at 3:30 p.m. and did the whole hike in five hours and thirty six minutes, including hanging at the summit for awhile. Great sunset on the way down, as thunderstorms were in abundance in the area (I got rained on for about forty minutes or so). I finally put on my head lamp about ten minutes from my car. A light dinner, then slept in the back of the XTerra. Up at five and headed off to Waucoba, the second peak of the trip.

Late Day Trip
Trying to cram in as many peaks into my small four-day timeframe as possible, I ended a long day of peakbagging and driving with a trip to White Mountain Peak. I hiked up, and hiked/jogged down... which did not help my already-aggravated big toes. 4.5 hours up, 3 hours down. This is a true high-elevation desert peak.
The highlight (or lowlight) of the day was when I started hallucinating while driving along Highway 395 near the city of Bishop; the combination of long driving, little sleep, and very hot temperatures really messed with me for a brief period. I quickly pulled over for a short power nap, which did wonders.

Harder than it sounds
Climbed it on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, it was cold and windy, but overall a gorgeous day, and we had a great time. This mountain is a real asskicker, more than the internet would suggest, mostly because you have to go down twice on your way to the top. Coming back is where you really get hit, when you must climb up two hills which seemed small earlier, but are now massive walls of pain and suffering, making this hike difficult for the faint of heart. Overall however, 10/10 would climb again.

Road
Getting to the start by car was a struggle. I broke the front sway bar in my Acura Legend. Needed a truck, which I got after this. Left really early in the morning and it was cold.

First 14er of 2012. Nice weather and great group to share the experience with. Fabulous views of the Sierras. Just a walk-up as long as well-acclimatized.
