Nice hike on the 4th of July. A bit warm coming down. Also checked out the Bristlecone Pine Forest.

Good Conditioner...
We used this peak as a conditioner for our Whitney climb. Camped at the gate the night before which helped. Car to car in just under 7-hours. HOT! Went through 3.5-liters of water.
No, I did not run, but I could have! Summitted in 2006.

My son's first 14er
My 9yo son and I hiked from Barcroft Gate. I was very proud of him. By far, this was his longest and highest hike yet. He was so tired when we summitted. But after a nap and some food, he was back to his old playful self as we headed back down the trail. We did his science project for the upcoming year along the way (testing the boiling temperature of water at various elevations). Great, great day and great weekend camping and hiking with him.

walk from the south slope
Tried to spend a night up there but altitude sickness made us pack our tent before it got dark. Nice walk down under the moonlight...

Standard Route
Overnight at the Gate. Cold night and an early start. We arrived on the summit at 11:05AM and a helicopter came and picked up one of the researchers at the summit lab. Pretty cool!

Useful to sleep near the top to pre-acclimatize for a higher mountain.

Great hike with a few inches of snow on the trail! We saw about 20 sheep toward the summit with one big male guarding the herd. I sure didnt want to see those horns up close! :-o Even the clouds and the cold couldnt hold us back. It was a fun adventure and my 2nd 14er with RocketsRedGlare!

The Yellow Brick Road
Wanted to climb Middle Pal but weren't prepared for the snow, my buddy hadn't done White yet so we tagged it instead. Winter conditions, amazing feeling and vibe on the way up, saw some bighorn, took some great shots and then headed home.
My second time his first but the winter conditions and Scotty made it a different experience all together.

Quick 14er
Really quick hike to the summit. Great views from the top. Had the mountain to myself (except for some sheep at Barcroft). Started at 5 a.m. and was back at the trailhead at 10 a.m. with a good amount of time spent at the summit. Really windy and cold that day. Still worth the effort.

Bagged at last
White Mountain Peak was THE mountain I wanted to summit on my first visit to Bishop back in 2004, but it had wait until 2007 (it's a long way to come from the UK). The journey took five and a half hours as a solo climb (this is a lonely old peak if you do it on your own) but the views of the Eastern Sierra from the summit are second to none, as are the views over Nevada to the East (don't forget to check out the Bristlecone pines on the way up). Given the time and money, I would live in this area for years!!!
