Lions Head? Mt Washington
My 17 year old son and I went up Lions Head in Bluebird conditions- It was his first time using Ice axe and crampons, a necessity up the steep pitches just below timberline. He did a great job and we reached Lions head in just under 3 hours from Pinkham Notch- not a world record pace by any stretch, but we made good steady time.
Though many out west scoff at the mountains of the east, I think the Whites are a special place. There's tons of history in this region and I have had some unforgettable adventures here. Plus, there nothing like the mountains of the northeast during fall foliage.
I live in Boise, Idaho now, but the Whites (and Adirondacks) will always have a special place in my heart. If you can hike here, you can hike anywhere!
Skied off the summit of Washington a few times. East Coast corn!

Love the Whites.
Just got back up to the whites for the first time this year, many trips over the years, and lots more to go this summer. Mt. Washington is a great way to spend a holiday weekend.
The Whites were my home away from home, for a while (and by 'home', I mean my lab). Summitted all 48 of the White Mountain 4000 footers in a year and went back to most of them for seconds, thirds, fourths, ...
