July 16
6 day backpacking trip July 12-17, 27 people at Lost Horse Lake, 25/27 summited on Sunday July 16th, half 2/3 took the NW ridge and the other third went up the south side of the west face up to the saddle and than ran that to north to the peak.
Astonishing views of El Cap, The Shard, LB, Three Sisters.
The tons of water throughout July on all the north facing side of South Fork Lost Horse

whites and whites east in a day
Climbed with Josh, Laurel, and Anne. Hiked, jogged from lake Como up Rock creek, then approached the mountain from the south. 2000 feet of unpleasant bushwhacking then opens up to talus/rockhopping to a pretty tarn. We tagged Whites first, then Josh, Anne, and I lost ~1000 feet elevation in order to find a route to get Whites East as well. Smoke from Idaho continued to fill the valley throughout the day. Long day, approx 25 miles and 6800 vert. Bitterroot 9ker numbers 24 and 25 for me. I unfortunately sustained a compression fracture in my back the following day, likely ending my peakbagging season for the year :(

Via Rock Creek
Got off work early, drove a few hours to the north Lake Como trailhead, then hiked up to the wilderness boundary where I bivvied. Continued up the trail until I was below the south ridge of the east summit then made my way up through brush and talus to the neat basin southeast of the summit. Easy going from there, good outing.

From Lost Horse Lake
Hiked into Lost Horse Lake for the night. Hit the summit the next morning before heading out. The larch in the high basin were in top autumn form. It was a sea of gold up there. Gorgeous.

SW ridge from Hackney Lake
Camped at Hackney Lake. One of the hottest, buggiest trips ever- but still a great climb! While we were sitting at the summit plaque munching sandwiches and swatting 'skeetos, a group of goats kept peering up the north ridge at us, anticipating our departure so that they could come up and enjoy!
