Warmup for Telescope
Did this as a warmup for Telescope. Not a lot of people head out to this area, but both peaks are excellent.

awesome hike. great views
snowing pretty good when we got to the parking lot so everyone put on tons of layers. blue skies within 30 minutes so we all took off those layers. great views off both sides of the mountain throughout the entire hike. cold and windy at the top, but great temps otherwise. apparently it was unseasonably cold for the time of year. a half dozen of inches of snow most of the way up.
highly recommended if you're in the area.

deserted
I saw nobody the entire day. High clouds and wildfires made for interesting views.

Easy Hike Overall, but some sections of the hike were challenging
Did this hike over Memorial Day Weekend! It was a perfect hike to do because we only saw 7 other groups of people on the mountain the whole day. The views past the 3 mile mark are awesome. This would be a wonderful hike to do at sunset. The weather was nice and cool with no snow at the top. Lots of shade along the way.

Lost trail due to snow, headed straight up through fresh snow. Easy with snowshoes.

Fun Hike
Started early in the morning. Although it was summer, we were mostly in the shade, being on the western side for most of the hike. Nice views of the valley once you reach the ridge.

From the Kilns
After the first mile, I left the trail since it was buried in snow anyway. The cross-country route worked well, and there was still plenty of snow to hate on the way up but enjoy on the way down.
I was also up there several years ago, possibly 1999. I will have to dig up photos (film - grrrrrrr!) to get the date.

Wildrose Peak
Cold and windy day in the desert. Storm front was moving through and it snowed later. Nobody else hiking on this day.

Wildrose Peak Trail
Did Telescope the previous day so we were a little tired, but still managed to get up and down in 3 hours. Great hike and great weather this time of year.

Nice peak
Hiked from the end of the paved part of Wildrose Canyon road to the kilns (added another 4.5 miles in and out) and up to the peak. Great views from the top. Very few patches of snow on the saddle before the final ascent. Cold winds on top.

Snow blocking the road
When snow blocked the way past the kilns, I decided to hike up Wildrose as an alternative. Took the better part of the day. Almost got stuck when I went to Skido when I couldn't get traction on the ice covered steep road out. I spent an hour or more throwing rocks and gravel on the ice surface, then easily drove up and out (a lesson I've used many times since).
