Wonderful area
I drove to just above Willow Tank and hiked from there, about 2.5 miles to the top. The road to the tank could be driven in a regular high clearance SUV (like a Subaru) but the steep and rocky section just above the tank required 4Lo and beefy tires. The rest of the road could have been drive again by a Subaru. I really enjoyed the area and also hiked to two lookouts in the Natanes Mountains. I didn't see anybody for the day and a half I was there except for one Indian ranger, so make sure to get your permit. He was very friendly and we chatted for a while.

Had a great time
Thoroughly enjoyed the easy walking (14 miles of it), the scenery, the remoteness, everything. Would go back.
