North Ridge
Travis talked me in to climbing the north ridge from Low Pass and although I'm glad he did, I was relatively terrified at times. Loose and steep with some bushwhacking but very worth it as an unusual approach to a popular peak.

Route Climbed: Winchester's North Ridge from Low Pass
A great day of hiking, started with Larrabee via the southwest ridge. Then we decided to give Winchester a try from the north and ascended an exciting knife edge ridge. Even had spectators from Low Pass. Some snow but a still a great day.

Looking at my topo map I thought I could see a more appropriate route for snow climbing this early in the season. It proved to be much better than the summer route. Greg and Bridgett and I were pleased and suprised to find some lawn chairs locked up in the lookout. We set them up in the snow and had our lunch overlooking 100 craggy peaks.
Route Climbed: Winchester Mountain Trail. Date Climbed: 1993ish
This was one of my first summits when I moved to washington from the east coast. Climbed with my dad after camping at twin lakes. I was only 7 or 8 so I don't remember many details except that the views were amazing....and that some Squirrels ate most of our food the night before.
One of my absolute favorite lookout hikes. Great views of Larrabee and American Border Peak as well as Goat, Shuksan, Baker and much of the wild North Cascades.
