Cold but lovely
Blue skies no wind but like 15 degrees. Few folks out today I saw on way down. Just me on ascent. About 8 miles round trip. Lots of snow used snowshoes and my new scarpas worked great

Windham High Peak, Catskill HP #4
Took Escarpment, not too bad of a climb. Views from ledges just off the summit, solid but nothing outstanding.

Escarpment
An awesome trail with varying tree growths that make it seem like you're changing seasons with every corner turned.

Easy day
One hundred minutes to the summit from the trailhead on the highway to the north and eighty minutes back down again. I needed a nice easy day after climbing Greylock and Williamson the evening before.

Plateau and Windham High Peak
Climbed Plateau, then made a quick drive over to Windham.
Great hike. A cool 42F most of the day. Moderate snowfall while climbing Plateau and close to 2 inches on the summit! Due to the slick conditions, it took about 3 hours to complete Plateau. Windham took less than 3 hours to complete. Another couple down!

Blackhead-Windham hike
Did the Blackhead range and Windham on a beautiful fall day. Made it out around sunset, but the taxi we had arranged left us stranded! Managed to bum a ride back to our car from another hiker.

4-peak day
with the NYC Hiking Meetup. Also, Blackhead, Black Dome, and Thomas Cole.
This was by far the easiest High Peak in the CATS, enjoyed the old growth forest and gentle trail, summit views, and made great time, up and down in under 2 hrs, went on to hike SW Hunter and Halcott same day.

cold, wet, and windy
Camped at Elm Ridge leanto Saturday Night and got going just after the rain started Sunday morning. Although no views the mist and fog were awesome. Great hike. Finished up the day with Balsam and Eagle.

Snow is the best!
Had a great view of the surrounding Mountains and cool view of the flat land North of the Catskills. Deep snow.

The MapleCrest Loop
Backpacked over the weekend what someone told me was the "MapleCrest Loop". Started at Hensonville and walked up the Road to the Windham High Peak trail head. Camped at Elm Ridge leanto. Next day hiked around to the next leanto. I did the BlackHead Range the last day and came out at Barnum Rd. Great loop for a beginner such as I.

Windham High Peak
Climbed via the Escarpment Trail from Route 23. A fun spring hike only a short drive from home. Good views of the Blackhead Range from Windham's icy summit.

two times
The first time I went to Windham High Peak was 09/16/07. It was a fairly decent day. You could clearly make out Albany, NY in the distance. You could even see the Adirondacks rising up in the way distance. I took some photos, but all of the photos I took that day were lost.
The second time I went to Windham High Peak, I went with SP's own Puma Concolor. We were planning a winter hike. It was the end of December, and I told him to let me borrow his extra pair of snowshoes. They were definately NOT needed. The snow was all gone, due to some mild days, and rain. We had to get wet, right at the start, as the trail was FLOODED by the trailhead. No views at the top, and it was supposed to be sunny. Still, a good time.
Geat area of the Catskills. We saw a small snake on the summit.

might as well sign...
Had to get out of the house after Christmas, first trip to the Catskills as well. Was a blast, hiked the Blackheads a few weeks later. My photo of the northern view does not do the view justice at all.
