Winter view to Humphreys

A reward to a rare skier who manages to get to North Rim lookout (it is upwards of 32 miles one way from the winter trailhead at Jacob Lake, and it took me 17 hours to cover the distance). A bit nicer descent to the Entrance Station than in summer though :) Arizona's highpoint is 77 miles away from this lookout tower. 1/10/09 3:40 pm

How Weird!

Have the Uintas been turned to a snowless desert in the end? Skiing in AZ? I wonder what Larry would say:)

Re: How Weird!

Sunny and crusts both on the Kaibab and in the Uintas, good for long fast trips in either place. But it would be hard to find a better few days for AZ skiing, so I jumped at this chance. The Grand Canyon is too warm for my heat-averse skin in any other time of the year anyway :)
