"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

3 goats sightedWith Michelle. Late start did not impact us. From Chinn lake (lower). Road sort of sucked but we gutted it out. Ever so gentle rain on summit from partly cloudy sky. We did west ridge. Only 12 feet of easy 3rd on final summit ramp. Saw 2 goats close, one far.

with EvaSki descent with Brian, Ben and Derek of Welcome Couloir after Eva's SE bowl. Some new snow a few days before made for an interesting mix of powder and the early formations of a sun crust, but it was a good early spring tour!

Nice loopDid a nice loop from Bancroft, Parry, Eva, and Witter. Once back at the reservoir we were disgusted with the amount of trash that has been left behind. Pick up some but we soon could no longer carry anymore.

Witter and EvaStarted at Fall River Reservoir, cut south along the creek that flows out of Chinn Lake, followed the northern shore of Chinn and Sherwin Lakes and then headed up to Slater Lake before heading west towards the saddle between Witter and Eva. Hiked up Witter first and then followed the Divide to Eva. On the return we scrambled down Eva to the saddle between Eva and Pt. 12,850.

E. RidgeSolo from Chin's Lake. Easy scrambling. Take care route finding on the way down as some of those gullies end with cliffs. I descended a different gully than the one I ascended and got cliffed out. Hiked back up to the ridge and continued to trend east until I could find a good escape point. If all else fails, keep heading east and you'll find a way out.

From Berthoud PassSnuck this one in after climbing Colorado Mines, Flora & Eva. The cliffs that make up the south face were impressive in their white cloak but visibility wasn't very good.

NE RidgeI guess it is called the north east ridge but really it is more easterly trending. Hiked up from the trailhead to Chinn's Lake and then steeply up to the ridge. Didn't see anyone.

From Chinn's Lake, up NE slopesInstead of hiking to the saddle between Witter and Eva and then up, I decided to go straight up the NE face of Witter at the west end of Sherwin Lake. Only 50 feet of class 2+/3 at the end of the route. A very pleasant hike.
