"Won't Know 'Till The Sun Comes Up Again"

The early morning sun illuminates dark clouds and the showy white pedals of Arizona's Soaptree Yucca. Point 4120' rises slightly north of Red Tank Draw, beyond the yucca's lily-white blooms. Recent rainstorms in Arizona will soon give way to the summertime monsoon. This yucca's flowers are edible, and its roots can be used as soap. May 25, 2009

Root Edible

Larry--I've eaten the yucca root (though perhaps not this particular species). It was actually quite tasty. We baked it after swabbing it in mud and throwing it on our fire (simulated survival situation).

Nice pic, great colors! --mark d.

Re: Root Edible

That's cool! My brother took a survival
course when he was a lad. Now, he's almost
40, and that experience & training has helped.

Of course, age NEVER matters, unless you're
a piece of cheese !!! : ))
