not quiteThis is actually wreckage from a much smaller plane that crashed in 1947. The engines used on DC3s were typically 14-cylinder models and produced about 9x as much horsepower. I didn't realize the error till the fellow who crashed in 1947 contacted me. Some of the wreckage from the Lomard crash is still there, but most was salvaged.

Re: not quiteThis engine pictured is a Wright Cyclone 9 which was a 9 cylinder radial engine used on the DC-3 operated as TWA Flight 3 on 1/16/42. This particular engine was the right side engine. The left engine is further downhill. I’m not sure about a 1947 plane crash on Potosi, but the only wreckage at the Lombard site is of the DC-3 she was on.
