"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Backup plansI had wanted to do Cascade mountain but a nearby fire derailed those plans so I did this as an alternate. Good hike and surprisingly steep, I was feeling it in my legs the next day

ClassicFun hike with no scrambling. Pretty views of Utah Valley from the top. I've seen a couple moose up here on other trips. Fun to come down the Slate Canyon trail and head north along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail back to the TH.

Second Time AroundClimbed it with my uncle last year to the west summit, only to find out shortly thereafter that the east summit is actually higher. Went back and climbed it, via the standard route, finally, tagged both summits, took down the register I'd left on the east summit because it was falling apart. Plenty of wildlife on the trail, including a plethora of lizards, a deer, and even a snake, great scenery up Slide Canyon, excellent views from both summits, particularly the east, some pretty nasty bushwhacking up to the true summit. Great hike, finally bagged this one, would recommend as a famous landmark and great summit!

After work hikeIt was quite hot at the beginning of the hike on our way up to the Y. We saw a Great Basin Rattlesnake just after rabbit rock. The little jerk just stayed on the trail like he owned it or something.
Despite the little rattler, we made it up in about 2 hours. After a little dinner/snack, we descended in about an hour, running from the Y to the trailhead. What a great time!

America! Is there still an american flag on top? Nice to do it in the winter, and easy. Not sure exactly what the date was, though.

Grab Your Poles and go for the VolesThis mountain is a steady climb, with a nice spot called Bear Flat to stop and enjoy a nice flat spot. This spot is full of voles and I was in heaven. This is the true highlight of the mountain, I could of spent days here. Oh I guess the summit had nice views too, but the lack of voles on top left much to be desired.

Gloria Estefan Loves this MountainWe saw a moose. There was a beautiful moose in slide canyon. We saw a lot of people climbing to the top today. Lots of mud and snow up death draw as I affectionately call it. It's a bit of a steep guy. Kinda like the price of gas nowadays steep.
The point is that I have been up here many times and never done the true summit. So I did and I love it, and I'll be back, because saying I'll never be back would be foolish, because it just happens when you least suspect. The rhythm and Y Mountain are gonna get you.

Finally!Hiked up to the overlook/west summit last year, but I finally went back to bag the true summit. Much better views! Never want to hike back up to the Y, though. Such a slog.

Both SummitsTook the traditional route up slide canyon with TonyTheJet. We hit both the west and east summits. Great view from the east summit. It makes me wonder why the west summit is more popular.

Re: Both SummitsGood times. Had the back side of the mountain to ourselves on a 60-degree Saturday. Can't argue with that!

West Peak via SlideBoth times I attempted to climb both summits I found myself at the west peak with the sun already down and a urgent need to get back down. I am planning a slide canyon to peaks to rock canyon hike one of these days.
