Nice catch!

Do you know why males live such shorter lives? Is it because of competition among them? Hunters? Any idea?

Re: Nice catch!

I really don't know. I read that in Nevada Magazine just a couple of days ago and was puzzled also ( Link to article )
From my personal observation, I don't think that the competition over the females has much of an impact on their lifespan. I have seen some of them fight last autumn and it didn't appear very violent. Nobody got hurt and when they had enough of "wrestling" they all went grazing. Hunting is definitely a possibility though.

Re: Love it!

Thank you :) Whenever I'm out in Red Rocks and I get this feeling that somebody is looking at me, I look up and there's a bighorn. Cheers!
