Product and Company Info

From Sanuk:
Hi, we’re Sanük. We’ve been around since July, 1997 when Jeff Kelley started making sandals out of inner tubes and indoor-outdoor carpet. 1998 marked our first full year of operations. While we’ve progressed into semi-proper footwear company (uh-oh), Jeff’s spirit of innovation still serves as the backbone of our little brand. Today, we strive to make products that are as much about funk as they are about function. We’ve found our sandals are happiest when they tread the road less traveled – so we design ‘em accordingly.
Because “Sanük” is the Thai word for happiness and balance, our name is also our mantra.

Our goal is to provide creatively inspired yet thoughtfully designed products for the global outdoor community…mostly because we’re part of it.
Headquartered in Southern California, we are an eclectic little family hailing from Santa Cruz, Seattle, Cardiff by the Sea, the Philippines, Colombia, Hong Kong, and even Papua New Guinea. With your support, we continue to grow and now have distribution across the United States and in over 50 countries throughout Europe, Asia, South America and Australia.

Sanük sponsors a diverse group of professional athletes ranging from surfers like Donavon Frankenreiter and Dave Rastovich to rock climbers like Chris Sharma and Randy Leavitt. Their impact on our brand culture has been profound as we deliberately partner with athletes known as much for their style and charisma as their specialized talents. Like the products we design, our roster of athletes is truly “superfunktional.”

Sanuk's are great!
I love my Sanuk's. They are actually pretty comfortable, real lightweight, and real to slip on and off real quick. I love using these while belaying.

awesome shoes
okay, i don't have sanuks just because chris sharma advertises them in witty little advertisements in every climbing magazine, but these things are sweet, i've had a pair for almost 2 years until recently i finally got a new pair because the old one's were falling apart. i use them a lot in joshua tree when you have to walk a little bit from your vehicle but don't want normal flip flops, or just hanging out. i love them

comfy
For those interested in the flip flops they make, I would highly recommend Sanuks. The binding does not break off at the toe and the tread does not begin peeling off like other brands have done to me. Worth their weight in gold on a backpacking trip when you need to air out your feet at camp.

comfortable shoes
I have been wearing sanuks for a long time now. The ones with foam soles wear a little quick, but they are comfortable. I wear ones with rubber soles for approaches just because the grip is better. But, they are the most comfortable shoe I own. I wear them to class every day.
