Santa Elena Canyon Storm

Santa Elena Canyon Storm

Storm conditions early January 2007 made this hike a lot more challenging...and very lonely. Notice how the rapidly rising Terilingua Creek has turned flesh colored. Aware of flash flooding, we carefully made our way across the creek. It was knee deep and fast. On the way back it was thigh deep and very fast we were glad to get out. Thanks to Mark Doiron for correcting tilt of my image.

Very cool

That's an awesome image and I'd love to see something like that firsthand but it would make me nervous as well.

This conjures up

images of some giant monster emerging from between the the canyon walls. Great shot!
