Alpine Trail
The first section of the standard approach for both Birkenhead Peak and Microwave Ridge is along a nice, easy-to-follow alpine trail.
This well-defined hiking trail leads towards the notorious "Goat Trail Traverse" section (not shown), a sometimes narrow and exposed path which involves a lot of sidehilling and careful footing.
