"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Birthday hikeA nice solo hike to the bluff and beyond about a mile. Rain and clouds cleared up for a nice lunch with a view.

Amazing weather!Maybe the marquee hike in the Smoky Mountains. Mont Leconte, and the Alum Cave Trail is so beautiful. It's a must do while visiting this area. We had a picture perfect day on the mountain!

Beautiful hike even in chilly dampness!Started out in mist and light rain/fog but we decided to head up anyway and we're very glad we did! The trail is deep in rhododendron but does parallel a lovely stream with picturesque bridges and of course, the "cave". If we had brought lunches we would have traveled on to LeConte.

One of the Smokies BestThis is a classic hike and might just be the best trail in the Smokies. I've been up this trail several times, each time a little bit further than the last. This trail really hits all the Smokies highlights: beautiful streams, interesting rock formations, diverse mountain flora, a little bit of exposure, and great high-up long-range views. I'll definitely hike this one again and again in the future.

Nice hikeNice hike. Make sure to hike up so you arrive in the late afternoon. You'll have a better chance of the fog lifting for better views.

Wonderfull Trail!Very nice trail. It has many great overlooks and a neat rock you can climb through at the begging of it. It also has cables to assist in hiking when rocks are wet, which is often.
