Bighorn Mountain

Bighorn Mountain is perhaps best climbed from the west by angling up the steep slopes to the Mount Tileston-Bighorn saddle, then by skirting through the sparse forest to the summit just above treeline. On this occasion we encountered snow at approximately 10750' to treeline, but in the summertime snow should not be an issue, even on the north face the route ascends. Views from the summit are good in all directions, but the view of the Lower Mummies are obviously the best. Bighorn Sheep frequent this summit.
