Thanks Bob! They are rather extreme, some of them much deeper than they appear, going back between a foot and several feet, kinda hard to tell in the pictures. Thanks again! :-)
One of my fav places in W Desert, love that geology link you included!
One of my experiences with this peak was scary, we came under fire from a family shooting automatic weapons from their campsite and not knowing that somebody else may be in the area :O
Could you add Kelsey's utah mountaneering book to the list? He's got a very good chapter on Crystal over there.
Thanks MOCKBA, your nice vote and comments are appreciated. That sounds really scary that people were just shooting not knowing if anyone was around, when I visited there was a herder living out there in several small trailers a couple miles from the peak. Thanks for telling me about Kelsey's Utah Mountaineering book, I didn't know it covered Crystal Peak I will definately add it. Thanks again! :-)
This one is on my list to climb. I've been to that area before. I like the "huecos" in the rock. It looks similiar to the ones I've seen in sandstone slot canyons.
Thanks, I think this peak is definately worth a visit. The holes are actually much deeper than they look some only a foot deep and some are several feet back. From DesertIslands.org.
Thanks Brian! It is very cool and hard to believe what you're looking at when seeing it in person, the photos don't really do it justice. Thanks again :-)
