Re: Well written,

Funny - that's what my guidebook claimed. On the other hand I still need to find the coordinates of Teleno but you're right - it looks more westerly. So I need to say Europe's southernmost 2000er ?

Coordinates

42.4136,-6.571, a west summit on the Teleno ridge (42.3468,-6.393 are the summit coordinates of Teleno) is the westernmost 2K'er in continental Europe. About the southernmost 2K peak in continental Europe, Barjali is a wee bit further south (36.8945,-2.7981) This is only a few hundred metres though, and not over 200 km...

Westernmost 2K'er in Spain

A good trip report but certainlu with an error: the westernmost summit in Spain (I don't know if in Europe) more than 2000 m high is Moncalvo (2.044), on the Peña Trevinca SW ridge, at Sierra Segundera (Zamora; coordinates: 42.19934601, -6.80745740). And there is another points in the same massif to the west (Siete Fuentes (2.037) or Bidual de Fregina (2.029), but there are only little rocks over the ridge). Here, you have a photo of Moncalvo from the east.

Yes - I trusted my guidebook andd only shot a short glimpse at a map. Will have to change this to "southernmost" and have a good chance that I'm right ...

Re: Westernmost 2K'er in Spain

Unfortunately, I think that Maroma is not the southernmost neither. As Leviathan says, this is Barjali.
About Maroma, you can truthfully say that it is the higher summit in Province of Malaga or that it's the westernmost summit more than 2000 m high in Andalucía or in the Cordillera Bética.
(comment: Can these circonstances be the source of our guidebook error?)

Nice!

" The flight from Frankfurt to Malaga had been postponed from reasonable 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and thanks to the usual delays at Frankfurt we had arrived only at 9:30 p.m. To claim our baggage took another 45 minutes, renting a car was quick but then we got lost in the underground parking garage. There is second rental car office on the lowest deck and getting down there turned out to be quite a journey in itself. "

Hey, what's an 8 hour delay among friends eh? Good to see that crap like that doesn't just happen to us ;)
...just kidding Gangolf - sucks how things like this can cut into your schedule. Nice TR.
