This was a terrific writeup and the pictures really help set the scene. Sucks about the smoke, seems to be pretty bad every year and don't see that changing anytime soon. Also I definitely feel the whole planning a trip around a specific goal. I went not once or twice but 5 times up the east fork of the salmon river all the way to pass creek on repeated attempts for Peak 11458. Finally got it and you can bet year over year it bothered me every time I would go and not get it
