Overview

The Frijole Ridge Traverse Route is an off-trail bushwhacking/scrambling route that links Pine Springs with McKittrick Canyon. The route involves moderate exposure in some places- falls could easily be fatal. Do not attempt this route unless you have experience scrambling, bushwhacking, and routefinding on difficult terrain.

Route Description

Follow the Bear Canyon Trail to the ridge. Exit the trail and follow the ridge to the north. The route will take you to the summit of Peak 8149, Frijole Peak, Peak 8078, Peak 7852, Peak 7563, Peak 6933, Peak 7040, Peak 6892 and Peak 6089. Descend Peak 6089 to the McKittrick Canyon Nature Trail and follow the trail to the trailhead.

Essential Gear
