Overview
Green Mountain from Mount Patterson.
Green Mountain is one of 21 named 10,000 foot peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. It is also one of 21 peaks in the state of Colorado with the name Green Mountain. RMNP's Green Mountain lies on the west side of the park, one mile east of US 34 and one mile south of the Green Mountain Trail. Like virtually every peak in the park, no trail reaches the summit. You are virtually guaranteed to have the summit to yourself.
Green Mountain is ranked 115 out of 126 on
Mountain Jim's Summits of Rocky Mountain National Park List. It is the 81st tallest peak on
Gerry Roach's Rocky Mountain National Park Summits List. Green Mountain has 893 feet of prominence above the saddle with its parent peak, Mount Patterson 1.9 miles to the east.
Green Mountain is forested (albeit by trees largely affected by the pine beetle) so views are limited.
