Following a morning soak in the hot springs of Valley View I threw on my shoes and starting walking uphill without really knowing where I was headed. I was looking for a good view. After gaining the initial hill side I began following a ridge that eventually ended up on top of Cottonwood Peak, five miles and 5000 feet later. No trail. I saw wild turkey, tarmigan and at the very top a golden eagle. Coming back down I made a wrong turn at a fork in the ridge which detoured me to the bat caves. Upon returning to the hot springs I removed my shoes and continued my soak on into the night. Highly recommend!
